4 DAYS MIKUMI NP AND SELOUS GAME RESERVE + BOAT SAFARI

Tour Overview:

The Selous Game Reserve is a protected area in southern Tanzania. It covers a total area of 50,000 km2 (19,000 sq mi) and has additional buffer zones. Some of the typical wildlife of the miombo inhabits the reserve, such as African bush elephant, black rhino, hippopotamus, lion, East Africa wild dog, Cape buffaloes, Masai giraffe, Plain zebra, and Nile crocodile. On the north-west side of selous game reserve, lie two small, quite offbeat national parks: Mikumi national park and Udzungwa mountains national parks. Mikumi is easily accessible by road, it support large number of elephant, giraffe, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, eland, impala, waterbuck, reedbuck, warthog, yellow baboon, lion, hyena, antelope and many species.

DAY 1: MIKUMI NATIONAL PARK

Early in the morning at 5:00 a.m will start drive from Dar es salaam to Mikumi NP via Morogoro with our packed lunch box. Continue with drive to Mikumi and after 5 or 6 hours you will come across lions, elands, hartebeest, buffalos, wildebeest, giraffe, zebras, elephants, wild dogs and many species of birds. Continue with full day game drive, viewing at Mikumi national park you will see all species of animal and birds, Due to its Savannah plain animal at Mikumi are easily accessed and it takes only 4 to 5 hours to finish a game at Mikumi national park, then drive to place where accommodation arranged which will be inside Mikumi national park for Full board accommodation

DAY 2: MIKUMI NATIONAL PARK TO SELOUS GAME RESERVE

Early in the morning before breakfast (6:00am) start a short game drive, this will give you an opportunity of viewing animals early in the morning so as to see many animals and killings. Most of the killings occur early in the mornings. After breakfast then drive to Selous Game Reserve, it take 7 to 8 hours. You will have picnic lunch on the way and the journey will take about 7hours through the most unexplored and untouched areas in Tanzania. Meals and overnight will be at lodge/camp site.

DAY 3: SELOUS GAME RESERVE + BOAT TOUR

The day will be spent on game viewing in the Game Reserve and at evening you will make a boat safari for 2 to 3 hours. The safari guide points out rare species of animals like the Wild Dogs. Sable antelopes, black rhinoceros, Nile Crocodile, hippopotamus along the banks of the Rufiji river, Cape buffalo, hartebeest and Eland. Picnic lunch and drinks will be served in the wilderness before heading back to camp for dinner and overnight to the gentle grunting of the Camp. Boat Safaris are also the best excursions for bird enthusiast. The Selous has over 350 bird species, and the river is the place where they congregate in great numbers and are easily seen in the open environment.
You might also want to try your luck with the ferocious tiger fish, and weighty catfish that live in the waters in abundance.

DAY 4: WALKING TOUR WITH BUSH MAN THEN START DRIVE BACK TO DAR ES SALAAM

Early Morning before breakfast start a sunrise bush walking with bushman. Walking safaris are a fantastic way to get close to nature and learn more about the smaller species and the bush itself. It’s an unforgettable experience to walk within such a vast and untamed area of natural reserve. The walks take about 2-3 hours long. After walking back to the camp for breakfast and start your way to Dar Es Salaam.
